It’s not often that I write in our business blog about the emotional side of our business but I guess a few events lately have prompted me to do so….

Last week was a buzz …. And Saturday was an awesome day! We styled several Brides last week and help them choose some very different and really stunning looks for their wedding days. But last week was also quite an emotional week, there were lots of tears of joy from customers but equally one or two were shed for different reasons….

I lost Dad 5 years ago (three weeks to the day that Rob my Husband also lost his). One of my Bride’s Mums explained on Saturday that she would be proudly walking her daughter down the aisle because her husband is no longer alive. She couldn’t really even say the words, she finds the whole thing so painful. It was so hard to know what to say to her, poor Lady, she’s quite simply heartbroken. But it really did remind me of how lucky I am that my Dad (although he was very unwell) managed to walk me down the aisle on my big day …. I’ll never forget that.

Also last week; a Bride came by to collect her bridesmaid dresses. It was awkward ….. You see her Husband to be has left her, just weeks before the wedding which has of course has to be cancelled now. Again what to say? This poor Girl has got to pull her life together and soldier through a really tough time before hopefully meeting the real man of her dreams!! I sincerely hope that I see her again but for happier reasons. Again it reminded me how lucky I am to have such a loving husband. He means the world to me and I sincerely hope that my Bride meets someone totally wonderful sometime very soon.

Inevitably, sometimes staff and I at work bare witness to the most magical of moments but also because a ‘wedding’ can bring with it a whole host of family issues and politics, pressures and good and bad emotions we occasionally have to step back and allow some privacy….

What I really wanted to say was that sometimes we must all count our blessings in life and hold our loved ones tight. We should celebrate the good times and the good people that we have and basically ‘be happy’ because life certainly is short! x x
