Bride’s Credentials…

Charlotte Serheunik (was Fisher), 28 years old, Leo Star Sign.

I love meeting up with family and friends, going out to dinner for eats and drinks.

Holidays are also one of my biggest loves; America is my favourite place to visit.

I don’t dislike much to be fair, life is too short for negatives but if I had to choose I think it would be mainly ignorant rude people…. and coffee sweets!

A bit about the Groom…

Daniel Serheunik, 27 years old,

Loves Everton FC and travelling the world seeing as many different countries as possible.

Dislikes arrogance in people and really dislikes Marmite drinking shots 😉

What she loves about him…

I love his passion for travel and holidays, it’s a really big part of our relationship.

He is kind and selfless, always thinking of others and can light up a room with his big personality and funny stories / impressions.

He has a heart of gold, is one of the strongest people I know and has taught me how to be a better person.

The proposal…

It was on the 13th Feb because he was too excited to wait until the 14th Feb!

He gave me a big Valentine’s Day card with a lovely message in it and then he handed be a teddy bear that said Press Here on its hand and he had recorded a message asking me to marry him  I was so excited and shocked that I didn’t even notice him for a few seconds on one knee holding a ring!

What shopping at Abigail’s Collection / The Groom’s Room like…

My experience at Abigails was really special, I was so nervous about dress shopping as I was adamant I wouldn’t find anything that I felt good in. The lady we saw was so helpful and I explained about my insecurities and she came up with lots of different ways to get around them and was really reassuring. As it happens the dress I ended up buying was one that the lady picked out for me  It was lovely having the whole room to myself with my mum and sister and not feeling pressured or pushed for time, plus the glass of wine was an added bonus!

When me and Dan went for the first suit fitting, again we were made to feel at ease and welcome. They really put Dans needs first and made sure he picked his own suit and the ushers outfits so there was no one else influencing his decisions.

I know that when he went with the dads, best man and ushers a few months later they all had the best day with the sports tv and beer fridge, they were all gutted when the fittings were finished!

The wedding venue…

Stoke By Nayland Golf Club

Wedding day theme…

Dan is a huge fan of Only fools and Horses so we had hired the Trotters Van for him and the best man to arrive in – it was the hardest surprise to keep from our guests but was well worth it! Our table names were also themed in this way, we were of course on Nelson Mandela House 

I had 8 bridesmaids in total and due to different heights etc I decided to have 4 girls in long strapless dresses and 4 in a knee length style dress.

They were all in baby pink apart from my sister as she was maid of honour she was in a hot pink colour. The girls in baby pink dresses had hot pink Gerberas and my sister had white carnations.

Special touches…

To help keep our guests entertained while all the photos were going on after the ceremony we hired an up close magician, he was just as good as Dynamo! The guests loved him and so did we, he was definitely the talk of the wedding the next morning at breakfast so we were really pleased he was such a big hit.

Our cake was also one of my favourite things, it was the same colour as the bridesmaids, baby pink, hot pink and white and it was a topsy turvy 4 tier cake; but the best part was the filling!

We had a chocolate layer, a raspberry ripple layer and to top it off a mink choc chip layer, they tasted gorgeous and also looked cool when the cake was cut and you had different colours of cake laid out!

We had also bought haribo sweets for our table favours, we purchased a box of rings and hearts only and made them up in little bags.

Most memorable moments…

On the morning of the wedding before I got ready me and mum had a special moment together even though it did make me cry! She played ‘Slipping Through My Fingers’ from Mama Mia and we had a big hug, think it helped me get out my emotion of the day then because I was quite chilled after that 

One of my favourite moments was getting to the aisle and just seeing Dan at the end, it was quite emotional and the room was so quiet when I walked in however that silence was soon broken when my sister, in a panic to get down the aisle quickly as she didn’t want to cry, stood on my dress causing me to halt quite suddenly! It was perfect timing though as everyone was laughing and it made the ceremony so much more relaxed

Other special moments were the speeches, Dan really wasn’t happy about doing a speech and at one point we were going to leave the speeches out completely but he got up there and did an amazing speech, it was a really proud moment.

I loved dancing with my dad on the second slow dance, I think that’s always a special moment between a daughter and her dad, also the evening was buzzing with people on the dance floor filled with friends and family having a great time, it was lovey to have everyone you care about in the same room.

And finally one of not just mine but I think most people at our weddings favourite moment was when my nana who is 87 years of age got a bit too tipsy after the meal and went to bed early only to then get up a couple of hours later and prop up the bar till gone midnight!

The lady is a true LEGEND!

Any ‘wish I had not dones?…

I honestly wouldn’t change a single thing

Money saving methods…

One of my best friends and her husband are graphic designers so that helped us out a great deal with our table plan and table names; they looked so great.

Also one of my other friends is good with making flowers so we bought all silk flowers and made every bouquet which saved a lot of money and you honestly couldnt tell they were real flowers, I was really happy with them.

Id say one of the best money saving mottos is ‘its not what you know its who you know!’

Advice for Brides to be….

Try to chill out and enjoy the build up as much as possible, it will only happen once (hopefully!) and the planning becomes just as big and the day itself.

Enjoy the fittings and evenings of making invites etc. with your wedding party as its time you will never get back. Rather than seeing it as a chore make the most of it with girly nights and wine, although not too much before the task is done!

Try not to worry about everything being exactly perfect because once you arrive at that aisle and you seem your groom you won’t care where you are or what flowers are positioned where because you won’t see anything else other than him.

Enjoy every second of it, it’s a truly magical day.
